Poland
Action: Military Solution --The new Prime Minister Mazowiecki, with support of the new government, orders the Polish Army to resist the occupation of their country by the Soviet Army. Solidarity supports this decision.
Result: War in Poland -- Limited battles between Polish units and the Red Army erupt along the border. Soviet garrisons are attacked by army units and citizen militias.
Reasons: Anger --Poles are angry that the iron hand of the USSR is still trying to control them, even if Gorbachev's talking new progressive policies, Eastern Europe: Establish Independence -- Poles want to be independent, Solidarity -- Solidarity wants Poland to be free of any external control.
Romania
Action: Military Solution -- Romania is the only Warsaw Pact government to support the Soviet Army in its occupation of the rest of Eastern Europe.
Result: Romainia invades neighbors -- Hungary and Bulgaria declare war on Romaina and ask for western military aid.
Reasons: Fanatically loyal to Stalinism -- Tchecheskiu is in power & a loyal ally of the USSR, The Warsaw Pact -- Romanian Army still takes orders from the Kremlin, The Red Army -- Romania thinks that if it supports the Soviet move, the Red Army will not subjugate it.

Poland: Soviets hurry reinforcements into Poland, and escalate conflict by using chemical agents on Polish Army concentrations. Poles call for aid from the w Romania: Hard pressed by the armies of its neighbors, Tchecheskiu gets a local Soviet General to commit tactical nuclear weapons in Bulgaria. Thousands are killed. The world condemns the action and NATO forces are put on alert.

ashamed of having supported an immoral invasion.
