Editorial

Welcome to EGG9. I've been having a busy fall up to this point. I made it to two conventions (both way up north). My wife and I moved to a new house, on the other side of town. Lots of work at work. And I've put together a beginners Matrix Game that seems to work pretty well at explaining the idea to people who have never seen a game run, or even heard of it before.

The beginners MG "The Swashbucklers" is an interesting project for me. It's pretty obvious that I like spreading the word about new games. EGG is one way of doing this. What I am finding out though is that it is difficult to spread an idea to a wider wargaming audience unless it is housed in some marketable product. "The Swashbucklers" is meant to be just such a product.

My problem with marketing anything is that I do not do business well. The work that goes into production is expensive and the accounting and shipping required to sell stuff is an ongoing effort. over all it isn't my cup of tea. Still it needs to be done to spread the word. Fortunately I do not come into this project with the idea of making BIG MONEY. I sometimes wonder how I ever believed people could make money at this. Small scale, shoe string production, at break even prices is where I'm at. Depending on how this works out, I may put out another MG next year.
