From Stephen Lortz I just finished reading your article on matrix gaming issue #46 of MWAN. Since viewing The Adventures of Baron Munchausen my brother and I have been casting about for a way to incorporate that sort of preposterousness into some of our games. Conventional rules have turned out to be restrictive, but your matrix gaming concept sounds like it might be just the right approach. Please send me a copy of the beginner's game you mentioned in the article. I'm also interested in receiving a copy of your newsletter, EXPERIMENTAL GAME GROUP. Thanks for all your time, effort and consideration. [Right on, your Munchausen game sounds neat. I am certain that the matrix system will give you what you are looking for. I ran a medieval MG that had magic in it last year. In one particular game, one player decided he was going to try to become a God. A half hour later, the game had transformed into mythological combat with truly fantastic things happening. I had just introduced the idea the the new god on the block was just another avatar of Vishnu, when the game ended. Sound Munchauseny enough? From Vince Zahnle Please don't be offended, but you should hit up a used book store for a couple of items: "The Elements of Style" by E B White and the "Associated Press Stylebook." For reference as needed. For starters, these two items will do a lot for your editing. It's difficult to see your own mistakes proofreading, so you might consider having someone else proof EGG for you before repo- ing it for mailing. Also, after all, most of what folks are paying for is the physical product rather than the abstract content - so the product should have as much quality as you can reasonable put into it. No quibble with the abstract content, though, so my check for $7 is enclosed. (Thanks Vince for the feedback. I agree with you that production qualities of a magazine are important. I also realize that EGG's editing and production are flawed. Woe is me, I already have BOTH of the books you recommended. Unfortunately I am blind to most of the errors I make. Consequently I'm working on finding some local help to do proof reading. Until then, I will do the best I can - warts and all. For everyone else, if your spelling is not the greatest or if you are uncertain of your grammar, please don't let that stop you from writing. I now only misspell every 10th word. Five years ago I fumbled on every 4th word. Practice may not make perfect but it does cut down on errors.)
