The Last Issue

by Chris Engle

Welcome to EGG 30! The last of the two and a half dozen eggs I planned to lay. I really don't know what to say to wrap everything up. The articles in this issue do most of that. So I'll just tell gossip.

My wife got a job down in Bloomington (Indiana, not Illinois) so we will be moving back down there. I don't know what our address will be but as soon as I find out, I'll send it off to MWAN. I expect that we will rent a house for a year and then look to buy one next year. Once that is done, I do not want to move again for many years. I've been moving every two years since 1981! I'm ready to settle down.

They got a new photo copy machine in at work. So this EGG has been totally done in my office. Before now, the machine at work did not photo reduce, so I had to go out to a copy shop to do that. The machine copies well, but I've not yet learned its quirks. It looks like it will be a good reproducer of future MG products though so I'm happy.

I was over at the local hobby store yesterday to pump the model railroaders on how to do my 6mm England project. They were full of information. 1 guess that it will cost me about 200 dollars and many hours of labor to finish the terrain field. Terri went along with me and looked at potential puppet making tools. She is interested in doing puppet show; Shadow puppets, rod puppets, etc. Interesting stuff really. We have been collecting books of potential stories. Mainly Muslim and Hindu stories from South Asia and the Middle East. When we get it going, I will get to stand out in front of the stage and tell the stories while Terri and another person run the puppets. Eventually we want to do the Mahabarata using Turkish style shadow puppets.

I have been playing around with doing psychological research at work. Which is something very new to me. It seems to take a very different mind set to do it. Game making has always been an art form for me. Disciplined, yes, controlled, no. Research on the other hand, appears to be more controlled. The higher ups at South Central Mental Health want all our counselling to be "researched based" but not just any research, only rigorous scientific based research. I've not done much with control groups etc, but since I don't want my work ignored I guess I'll have to learn.

On that note, I will bid you a good day. I'll see you at conventions!
