Editorial

A man once asked a camel whether he preferred going uphill or downhill.
The camel said: "What is important to me is not the uphill or the downhill - It is the load!"

Dervish Joke

Something must be going right since It looks like EGG 2 Is out. I am very encouraged by the response I got from EGG 1. As you can see in the letters section not everyone is certain exactly what we are doing but there is interest. I won't jump the gun and say we are flying but we are at least in free fall. Since I have nearly 50 people on my mailing list right now at least I know I am not falling alone.

What really excites me is the debate about gaming EGG I roused up in Bloomington, IN. I got some excellent feedback on what I am doing wrong In matrix games. I fully agree with some of the points raised and I am Incorporating the changes Into the next generation of Matrix Game.

Obviously Matrix Games are my thing, and I am happy for the feedback I have gotten on how I can improve the product (namely to write an easy to read description of how a matrix game is actually played). I love the attention, but that is not the main reason why I made EGG. This is a place for you to air your ideas. Say you have a half baked idea. It is not ready for a convention game or a full blown article, but you want to get some feedback from your peers, EGG is a place to present it. Don't worry about your work being "bad." It is often from looking at what does not work that we find out what does work.

If you have not new ideas of your own, don't let that stop you from commenting on your impressions of other peoples stuff. I guarantee you that you are seeing at least three or four things that the game designer never even thought of.

So, with that lecture out of the way, on to the good stuff!
