Little Wars This is HMGS Midwest's big historical miniatures convention in Zion IL. I went there to run two MGs, "Bonnie Prince Charlie" and "Napoleon's 1812 Invasion of Russia." Both games went off well, and I sold a few Campaign in a Days. The Napoleon in the Russian game was only 7 years old which was a problem since his vocabulary did not include all the words in the matrix, but he did well and seemed to enjoy it. We French lost the campaign when those nasty Russians invaded Poland rather than stop our grand army form moving into Smolensk! Nashcon This is HMGS Midsouth's big historical miniatures convention in Nashville TN. My wife and I go to this one together since she has cousins down there. We visited them before the con, and took a ride in their Model T Ford in the back yard. An interesting experience. I prefer my little Toyota. At the con I saw Howard Whitehouse, and learned that his wife is expecting their first kid. Unfortunately Howard was called back home so I did not get to play in any of his games. Knowing that I do weird games Howard asked me to run his Water Pistol Pirate Game. I asked him if there were any rules, to which he laughed and said no. The game came out well with some 30 people wearing plastic eye patches, waving plastic cutlasses, saying "Arrrr mates. Make 'im walk the plank!" A few scraped knees, and wet cloths later it was done. Now my mind is jumping with ideas on other ways to run such live action analogue games - paper airplane Javelins! More on this later.
