Three Years

by Chris Engle

Welcome to EGG 18! This is the end of 3 years of EGGS. It has been a lot of work, but I think it was worth while. My wife's collection of foreign stamps has grown by leaps and bounds, and I have had the pleasure of creating friendships with gamers in far away lands.

Last November I started working on a Matrix Game product "Campaign in a Day." It is now done. I have 100 copies of the sucker, sitting In my back room. When I was doing the production work I asked myself "What are you doing? This is hard work!" Fortunately I know that this is a project I am doing for fun so I can reassure myself "Thank God I'm not doing this for money because it wouldn't be enough!" It is truly amazing what we do in the name of our hobbies.

When I started out working on MGs I had a three-year plan to introduce the idea to 100 gamers (mainly writers) in three years. When that was done, I needed a new goal. I decided that the next one would be to have 1000 gamers play an MG in the next three years. To do this I realized I needed an MG product, since I could not personally run that many games In that space of time. Also, a product passes the costs of production on to other people so I can use my own income paying off my wife's student loans. Now the product to here. We'll see what happens next at the conventions this summer. "I'm grateful I don't do this for money. Otherwise I would have gotten discouraged long ago. Doing work just to be doing it is somehow very freeing."

Terri and I are planning on moving in August. As of yet we do not know where we are going. It all depends on where she finds work. I'll let you know when I know.
