Can anyone supply me with information regarding an American artillery piece known as the 'King' howitzer, four of which were employed at Fort Wayne from 1794 until 1819 as well as elsewhere?

Question 1812-86-2:

What was the rate of fire of a trained American infantryman in 1812?

    Answer: It is estimated that an excellent infantryman could fire a maximum of approximately five rounds per minute. However, a sustained rate of 2-3 rounds per minute would drop as the weapon fouled or conditions affected the flintlock.

Question 1812-86-3:

What were the losses at Fort Dearborn in 1812?

    Answer: During the attack and subsequent massacre of the Fort Dearborn garrison, the following casualties are noted: 26 soldiers, 12 militia, 2 women and 12 children killed.
