Editorially Speaking

Editorial

by Jean A. Lochet (Mr.)

I wrote this editorial on 6 February after calling the RAFM Company in Canada and learning that EEL 85, after being held for an unduly long time by the printer, was in the process of being mailed. That is some three weeks behind the scheduled mailing date of 15 January. Of course that is unacceptable and the RAFM Company is taking steps to prevent the reoccurrence of such undesirable delays in the future.

As of today, 6 February, EEL 86 is almost ready, except for some time consuming details, and should be in the mail to Canada for printing no later than 15 February (publishing date is 1 March 1985). Then we go to EEL 87 which has been already started... and will be completed around 22 March and mailed to RAFM around the 1st of April (publishing date is 15 April).

From the above, it's easy to see that delays are undesirable since they cause a lost in continuity in receiving comments, answers, suggestions, etc. from the readership which can be reflected or published, at best, only two issues later...

We constantly try to enlarge the scope of the subjects covered and for that, EEL needs readership participation in the form of well documented comments, discussions and articles. In this issue, we are starting a new section on the long neglected Campaigns of 1812 and 1813. George Nafziger has agreed to be the Editor of that column and articles, questions, etc. related to these specific Campaigns should be sent directly to him for quick attention. We are sure that the readership will support George and the new section.

SOMBODY GOOFED

Dr. Paddy Griffith informs us of the following:

(1) Please note that the article 'Wellington and the Peninsular Sieges' on p.4 of EEL 85 was written by Howard Whitehouse and not (as may have been implied by the heading) by Paddy Griffith.

(2) In his note on horse artillery on p.3 of EEL 85, Paddy Griffith made an error which is corrected by the note to be found in the Reader's Forum section below.
