Napoleonic/War of 1812 Re-enactments: For those hearty individuals who take their wargaming to a different degree of authenticity, 1984 promises to be a very good year. Besides the annual events at Sackets Harbor, New York (July 20th,21st and 22nd), Chalmette (New Orleans), Fort Meigs, Ohio, Fort McHenry, Baltimore, Maryland, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, additional events are being planned for Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada and Old Fort Niagara, Youngston, New York. The Stoney Creek event is a joint venture between the Stoney Creek Battlefield House and the 5th Lincoln Militia. Details are available from John W. Russell, Box 9161, Stoney Creek, Ontario, L8G 3X9, CANADA. Word received from Executive Director Brian Leigh Dunnigan at Old Fort Niagara is that the weekend of July 21/22, the fort will host an encampment whose main emphasis will be on unit drill and tactics. Further details are available from P.O. Box 169, Youngston, New York, 14174. A very good way to keep up to date on 1812 related events is to subscribe to "THE JOURNAL". The cost is $4.00 a year, which is not much to pay for the wealth of period related news and items presented in its pages. Complete information is available from Mary Jo Cunningham, 3012 East Elm, Deshler, Ohio, 43516. Very helpful.
