Editorial

by Tom Devoe, Editor

Before getting into the meat of this edition of NEW-JAW-NEWS, I think a short look back over what has been presented and accomplished during the summer, should be reviewed. One thing above all else should stand out, and that is that no matter how much one knows or learns about the Napoleonic period, there is remaining still a vast amount that we have yet to learn. NOBODY can ever or will ever know it all. We are all still learning and that is half the fun of wargaming. We are very fortunate in having members who have an interest in the different nations of the period, unlike alot of clubs where everyone wants the French or the British.

Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, we have members who can translate Russian, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish and German, giving us a chance to obtain even more useful data rather than solely relying on English language translations. We have painters and data gatherers. We seek additional knowledge rather than wait until someone decides to publish a book. We have an exchange of ideas and information which fosters a closer club and a better wargame situation when we play. We don't always agree with everything, but this also is a strength for as individualists we venture forth to prove a point by documentation. All in all, we have a great club and, I'm sure, a great future.
