QUESTION: Were the Prussian Dragoons, post 1806, armed with a carbine or a short musket? What were the specifications? (Question number 4)

ANSWER

In regards to type of weapon, the cavalry carried from the beginning two flintlock pistols, Of those two, in general, one was ordered to be handed over to the Landwehr in the year 1813. Besides these weapons, various members in a squadron, as well as the Cuirassiers and Dragoons were issued, following or in course quenz of the A.K.O. from July 13th, 1808 and May 29th, 1809, carbines.

(German translation of German text sent by Vietmeyer to me and translated by William Froede, German Teacher, Mount Olive School System.)

Vietmeyer adds...." In 1808 some Cuirassiers ( probably pickets and Guards) and the dragoons were issued carbines." -- Letter dated May 22nd, 1978.

QUESTION: What was the length of the Prussian Hussar's carbine and its range. ( Question Number 3 )

Relative length of weapons. No further specifications known by me. Some of the dragoons carbines were rifled, giving longer range. That dragoons were truely used dismounted is shown by the fact that in 1813, each dragoon regiment contributed troopers to the new 2nd Foot Guards Light Battalion along with the Fusilier battalions of the Musketeer Regiments.
