by Jean A. Lochet (Mr.)
We are very pleased to present our best wishes for the New Year to everyone. This issue will be December-January issue #21. Somehow, we appear to be unable to publish every month on a regular basis for the simple reason that articles do not reach me on time for publication. I need articles very badly. Articles on the Napoleonic period. At the present time the only articles I have on hands are the continuation of THE POLISH LEGIONS IN ITALY 1797-1803 by Jon R.Harrison and a few articles of mine. That is it. I know everybody has been very busy with Christmas and New Year etc. There is not much to say beside that.... The only way this magazine can go is by receiving articles by volunteer authors. We have generated many questions and the ground for many articles in the last few issues, but I have to receive comments or articles at the time I am writing this editorial. Yet I am confident that some how we'll get the articles and comments that we are asking everyone of our readers. Please nurry. We also could use more readers. Everyone can help here again. We'll be glad to send a sample copy of Empires, Eagles and Lions to anyone on simple request. It's only by enlarging our membership that we can achieve to get more opinions, articles, point of view etc. to enlarge the scope of this magazine. Thank you very much for your help. COMING ATTRACTIONWord has been received from Jon Harrison, author of our excellent series of articles on the military forces of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, that he is planning a detailed study of the artillery organization, uniforms, types of artillery pieces, train battalions, and everything dealing with the artillery. Jon is also planning an article on the Polish National Guard. Jon has written to a Pole who is in some way connected to a museum, a collector of miniatures and associated with some Polish collectors society. I n the past Jon has sent him two or three figures which he keeps and uses in various military miniatures exhibits throughout eastern Europe, for which Jon gets the credit. Some very excellent pen and ink drawing h.,ve been submitted by our -staff artist Jeanette for three purposed articles, One includes three U.S. Dragoon figures, another is of a British Officer and a third features a Grenadier a Pied of the Imperial Guard. Articles on these and many other units will be forth coming in future issues of "Empires Eagles and Lions." Jeanette will shortly be leaving; for a working vacation in Mexico where she will be-doing research into the Spanish Colonial Army ot the Napoleonic Period. On her return trip, she will he visiting the Castillo de San Marcos where she will be studying uniforms of the Spanish Army.
