by Jean A. Lochet (Mr.)
As I am putting the present issue together, I am still under the HISTORICON 93 spell, which I cover, too briefly for my liking, elsewhere in this issue. The reason for this spell is the definite enthusiasm and interest I witnessed everywhere at the convention, particularly during the presentations. There is definitely a growing interest in wargames reflecting historical accuracy with as little nationalistic distortion as possible (see Paddy Griffith's article in the TRUDGING IN THE PENINSULA SECTION). I cannot help thinking about the very constructive past, and future, impact of EE&L in debunking erroneous facts and bringing the true history of the Napoleonic era to our readers. Some of which may not be to the liking of rulesmiths and wargamers who apply erroneous principles in their games (take a look at Bill Jessop's article in the WARGAME PROBLEMS section), but facts are facts. Well, it is my opinion that if we keep repeating facts in EE&L, eventually, these will be reflected in wargame rules. Believe me, if you saw some of the letters I receive, you would see that we have a long way to go. All of you, gentle readers, can participate in the process. Simply send us your articles, comments, answers and problems. Ask the question that comes to mind as you read this issue, or the one you may have pondering a long time. If you think we have erred, don't be afraid to say so. We'll be glad to publish your documented rebuttal and answer your questions, etc.. Please take a look at the editorial of EE&L 2, to see in which topical category your contribution fits. We are looking forward for your cooperation.
