84: Capt Winter's Company 1650

by Keith Raynor

The Darwin papers in the Nottinghamshire Archivies contain several interesting documents. The earliest document of note is a certificate confirming the appointment of William Darwin as yeoman of His Majestys Armourey at Greenwich. This Office was granted to him in 1613 and confirmed by Charles 1 in the 1625. The certificate contains details of his salary, method of pavment and the cost of a livery coat.

Other items of interest include; a Muster Roll for a Captain Winter's company dated by the archivies office C1650. And a petition to General Monk, which, though not dated, was I believe written about C1659 to 1660. These documents are transcribed below with the kind permission of the Principal Archivist, Nottinghamshire Archivies Office.
