From Robert Burke, our own Grand Vezir, comes a short report on a reprint of an old book -- "Military Reflections on Turkey', by Major-General Baron von Valentini. This is an 1828 translation of part of his work.

As the Baron served in the Balkans during the Napoleonic period his views on Ottoman organisation are interesting, if perhaps a little biased. Perhaps the most interesting chapter is his proposed strafegical disposition for the invasion and conquest of the Ottoman Empire. It should make an excellent 'what if' campaign. Roben says that if you haven't seen this work yet, it is available through Gareth Simon's 'Pallas Armata' service. To learn more contact Andy Preziosi, the US distributor, at 11017 SW 125th Ave., Miami, FL 33186.

And from Italy, Maurizio Bragaglia sends word that "L'esercito Ottomano da Candia a Passarowitz (1645-1718) Vol.1," by B.Mugnai, has just been published in Italian. While the book is written in Italian, it should be of interest even to us linguist)cally handicapped people as he says the 167-page book has plenty of maps, drawings, color designs, flags, weapons and more.
