In our last issue we looked at the Ottoman wars of the 18th Century with a focus on the eastern parts of the empire, primarily the conflicts involving Georgia and Persia. This issue we finish up Brian Vizak's two-part series with a look at the Ottoman wars of this period in Europe. Central to many of these Ottoman struggles in Europe were the actions in and around Bosnia. Therefore we are also taking a closer look at this important Ottoman frontier province and its military organization. We have also included a rather lengthy history section which will hopefully show this war-ravaged land, which is still occupied by Western troops, in a greater historical perspective.
