This month's cover design is of an 18th century commander of Janissaries in Bosnia. In addition to his musket and great sword, this fellow also has two pistols and a large knife tucked into the sash wrapped repeatedly around his waist. Instead of the usual colored leather slippers he is sporting highly decorated boots of local manufacture.
