by Major Bill Harting

First off We would like to wish all our readers and members the happiest of Holiday Seasons as well as a number of things to announce: The Wargamer's Reunion was quite a successful show with over 100 players in attendance with 12 dealers and 11 new members and a positive cash flow of $159.37.

Congratulations are due to Ed and Debbie Thilenius on their wedding which occured 23 Oct (PPP Ed, that was the same weekend as the Reunion...:O). Bill McGinnis informs us that while they were cleaning up, they found two sheets of Russian flags and a corduroy mottled green terrain cloth. The owner(s) can claim these by getting in contact with Bill.

This next item is tough for me to write about. You long time readers will recognize the name of Barry West, one of our earliest members (#002) and my steadfast and loyal opposition for nearly 20 years. He was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer on 8 October of this year. He has undergone several surgeries, is now home from the hospital and I ask that you all remember him in your prayers. This (and modern medicine) must do some good as Baxter Key is also up and about and as fiesty as ever such that he will be our POC for NASHCON 2000.

We need to encourage all of you to pay your Y2K dues if you haven't already done so. 200 of you have as of this writing but the remainder of you are in danger of being dropped.

We have two shows coming up early nest year (Like next month and in February). The show coming up next month is Siege of Augusta 7-9 January 2000 so if you survive Y2K come on over as Dr Jim promises a great gaming experience for your first wargame convention of the new century. Next event is a one day Fuzilier Muster in Hattiesburg, MS. It will be held Saturday, 26 Feb at the beautiful Lake Terrace Convention facility where we held it last year. If you want to run an event contact Jim Birdseye (Augusta) or Vince Clyant (Hattiesburg).

Jeff Hancock has volunteered and has been working mightily on a new web site fo MidSouth. Go take a look at it at: http:// www.geocities.com/hmgs_ms

Last item is that nominations are now open for the Board of Directors of MidSouth. Any current member (that means that you MUST pay your dues) may run or nominate someone else to run. Any nominees can submit a bio by 1 March to Major Bill which will be run in the Dispatch. Ballots will be in the April Dispatch and the final tally and announcement of winners will be at NASHCON 2000.
