Regional News

by Major Bill Harting

Still haven't seen the minutes from the NBoD meeting but I have received email notice that East has disbursed the funds out of the National Treasury to the individual Regions and we have received a check for $847.00. Part of the deal is that the $1688.10 of National funds that Major Bill currently holds as ex National Treasurer are to be retained by MidSouth as part of their portion of the National Treasury. These funds have been transferred and are currently in the MidSouth account. Apparently there will be a National Coordinating Body of some sort without funds or clear purpose (as I see it) and this will act to????

The one thing the dissolution of the NBoD is remove the silly restriction on all the Regions as to the types of games we can host at our flagship conventions. Now if folks want to host Full Thrust, Magic or any other type of game, they CAN. We will NEVER reduce historical gaming to a stepchild position but this opens up other areas for us. FYI by Major Bill I certainly hope that all of you are making your plans to attend this year's REUNION down in GA. Tim Mullins tells me he'll spring for pizza and sodas one evening for all who are there. Sounds like a good deal to me, as well as some excellent gaming. Tim also says that he has 12 dealers lined up so there will be an excellent opportunity to refill your lead collections awaiting paint.

Robert Haggerty (you saw his ad a couple of months ago) has released 9 new figures, including some good looking early French Revolutionary wars 25mm figs. These include 3 French Grenadiers, 2 Austrians in Kaskett helmets and 4 generic gunners for his 1700 era line (early Lace Wars). He also has available a new set of ancient rules called Melees Glorious. He doesn't own these rules but says that they are rules for gaming, and are fast and easy to learn and are sized to give a feel of ancient combats.

If you do not patronize our advertizers (and tell them you saw their ad here) we will lose them and will have no alternative than to raise dues or reduce frequency of your newsletter. The choice is yours....

Check your mailing label!!! Several of you have been receiving this newsletter without having paid your dues for 1999. Most of these folks have either told me that they want to continue membership or simply have forgotten. It would be sad to lose you as members but by the same token it is unfair to the remainder of our members to continue you.
