Catching Up

by Major Bill Harting

Well, as you can see, my computer is back up and running. I'm not sure if it is a blessing or not as during the month it was down I was able to paint the entire IV Austrian Corps at Leipzig in 15mm. Maybe I should shut this thing off more often.

This is the year that we hold Board of Director (BoD) elections. The original By-Laws of MidSouth were on a big floppy that I had prepared using my old 286 machine. Since my relinquishing my positions the guys decided new by-laws were needed so Dave Raybin copied the East's by-laws. I reviewed them and caught several variations from us but apparently missed the clause that limits the terms of the BoD to two (2). As such the whole BoD will have to be replaced until we change the by-laws (if desired), which can be voted upon at the next general membership meeting (at NASHCON).

We currently have a slate of seven candidates for the five BoD seats. To my mind, ANY of the candidates would make an excellent choice. The important thing is to VOTE. After all, this is your society and the leadership of it is your duty to choose. I hope the explanation in the proceeding paragraph makes it clear that there is NO dissatisfaction with the current BoD.

I attended two conventions while my machine was down and was unable to report upon. Siege of Augusta was a success making a profit of over $350 and over 160 attendees. Jim Birdseye and all the Augusta folks need kudos for hosting an enjoyable and pleasant show. Thanks for all your guys efforts.

Thought not directly a MidSouth sponsored show, Fuzilier Muster was also a great shoe. Mike Lowry and Vince Clyant decided to reinstate this gathering after a year hiatus. It was good to go down and see all of our Mississippi friends and enjoy some great gaming.

Mark your calendars for NASHCON coming up Memorial Day weekend. It will he the last show in our area until the Reunion in October. Also, new membership cards will be issued then and anyone who his not paid up and current on their dues will be dropped from the rolls.
