Revolution and Empire

by Maj. Bill Harting

Baxter Key tells the story about how he was introduced to Historical Military Miniatures. I was hosting a game of `Empire' and gave him a command and turned him loose. `Empire' is NOT the game system to use when introducing a novice to gaming, as he readily points out. I do not know how that bodes for sales of Scott Bowden's latest entry into Napoleonic game rules entitled `Revolution & Empire', but at 229 pages plus 15 charts/tables these rules are no lightweight. The fire tables for both small arms and artillery have changed but the basic design philosophy; maneuver elements &c. are the same as earlier Empire games. More later.
