Last issue I chided Jim Birdseye about his honoring me as if I didn't have too much longer to be with you. Two weeks later (7 Feb) I suffered my fourth stroke in the last three years. Did Jim know something I did not.... :0) At any rate, it is looking like I will have to devolve my duties to others or else this Region will die and have to be folded into another Region. Bob Duncan came up with a great idea of selecting a President-elect or other offices that would learn the duties and then assume duties when their term came due. Do we have any volunteers out there? Right now Al Gaiser and Baxter Key are leading this search and they could really use your help. Let them know if you will be willing. Most all of you (unless you paid your dues late) received a new Membership card, this one with an expiration date on it. The late payers should find their's with this issue. At last count there were 158 of the others who have not yet become current and will probably be dropped. I've done about everything I could to keep the membership up but we have to belt tighten just like everybody else You all need to keep Carl Arsenault (now over in Germany) in your prayers in that he has colon cancer which has spread to his liver. He will be going under the knife after I write this so I will not be able to report any results until next month at the earliest. With all this maudlin news, we would like to remind you of a service by MidSouth offered to members by myself and Bob Duncan and that is Estate Sales of hobby materials for members who pass on. Who knew that I might be taking advantage of this so soon (I certainly hope not ....:0). Anyhow, wanted you to be reminded of this Plan on being at NASHCON at the end )f May. I sincerely hope to see all of you :here. seriously.
