Well, the Siege of Augusta was a mixed bag. From all the reports from those who attended, it was enjoyed and the gamers had fun (an important fact). Unfortunately the new owners of the facility decided to jack up the cost by $600. Guess how much we fell short of meeting expenses.... you guessed it, $600. As a personal note, Dr Jim Birdseye presented me with a plaque and said some very nice things in the con program. At first I thought it sounded like an epitaph and I pointed out to Jim that I wasn't dead yet (at least I don't think so). He told me that he wanted to recognize my contributions 'while I was still around.' I'm not sure I liked the sound of that either .... :0) Bottom line was that I felt greatly honored, thanks guys. This issue will contain some great guidance for all Game Masters intending to host games. I hope it is useful[ to many of you and that more may want to host games in the future at MidSouth cons. For the April issue, rather than the usual humor, I would like to suggest a copy of member Pat Condray's Almanac, the first cut of which some of you received at Siege. If any of you have any better ideas, I'm happy to entertain them. At least a half dozen of you guys are sneaky in that you picked up your newsletter January at the Siege but failed to pay your dues. Fear not, as this issue has your notice that you (and I) missed last month. One more thing. Some of you guys keep telling me 'I always renew at (fill in the show name). But when you don't show (Mike, Bill, Kurt, &c), what the hell am I supposed to think and do? Come on guys, give me a break. Be responsible and do what you need to do.
