NashCon '01

Event and Financial Report

By Maj. Bill

Well, this year's NASHCON has come and gone, and quite a successful show it was! The venue was spectacular, with enough lighting in the main hall to allow one to see the miniatures without major eye-strain. Attendance was up in spite of the fact that HIVIGS East tried their best to sabotage the show .... just kidding- but Col Bill (Ret) didn't update the East web site with the correct information (though I requested it of him several times) and folks still showed up at last year's site at the Days Inn rather than the new one at the Sheraton Crown Plaza. Regardless, we were able to increase attendance by over 60 people! I'm not positive about the status of negotiations with the Sheraton folks but this is most likely the new and reasonably permanent home for the show.

Because we were able to coerce enough help for Baxter, he has acceded to run the con for one more year. Naturally this is contingent in receiving a level of support equal to (or greater than) this year's. Think about what you may do next time to help ........ We had several one time costs which ate into our profits but we were still able to clear a healthy $400+.

In addition I overheard several dealers commenting that this was the most successful three day show they had attended.
