Regional News

by Major Bill Harting

Well, it is time for elections for the Region's Board of Directors, and all members in good standing (dues fully paid up) will find enclosed a ballot for the BoD. Only this ballot is valid. Ballots will be accepted thru the mail (preferred) or hand delivered to Al Gaiser NLT NASHCON'00. Results will be announced in these pages and at the convention. I should note that if you don't receive a ballot, this indicates you're among the few that still owe dues for 2000, and we are just carrying you....

WWII Infantry Figure

FYI by Major Bill I owe some apologies to Chris Von Fahnnestock for being so late with this review, but he gave me some 15mm WWII infantry after a show, identified them and I forgot to write the data down! I remember vaguely they were east European German allies, but that was all, so I painted them up in a dark brown drab which then could be used (for the guys in soft caps) as either Greeks or Rumanians. Good guess (come on Bill, you were lucky!). They turned out to be Rumanians! Not something one often sees and interesting for things like pre-Stalingrad actions, &c. Chris can be reached at Outland Games

15mm Char Moyen Renault D2

Another new item, and one that I know of no other manufacturer who makes it, is a 15mm model of the Char Moyen Renault D2. Yeah, it is a Frog tank, and a vehicle that was supplanted by the Char B1, but the French kept this one soldiering on in the colonies (read Syria and North Africa) but the D2 had it's biggest claim to fame in the 19th Battalion de Chars de Combat of Charlie DeGaulle's 4th Armored Division.

I must say that this little gem, of all resin, simply exudes `Frenchness' and my hat is off to Brian O'Leary as the sculptor. Brian's models can be obtained from Gaming Models, 212 33rd St. SW, Canton, OH 44706.
