We would first off like to express our condolences to the McPeak family at the untimely passing of Buddy's grandson Caine Leigh McPeak last month and we ask that you keep the family in your prayers. Flowers were sent in the name of MidSouth. I guess your prayers do work, as Barry West showed up at my normal weekly game and handed me my a--. It is good to see him up and about, particularly after the serious surgery. Likewise it was good to see both Evans Brown and Baxter Key up and fighting (using little lead surrogates) at the January monthly meeting at Lord Al's. Again, they want to thank all for your prayers. Oops, a couple of corrections. In the budget printed last month, I said that ad revenues were down $176. Anybody doing the math could see that the real amount was only $101. Also there was an expense Item of $500 for National Dues. Since East decided to dissolve the NBoD (doing so by withdrawing from it), this obviously will not be an expense item for Y2K. We've lost one of our stalwarts....Howard Whitehouse has 'gone north'... way north.. In fact so far north he is south (Canada that is). I guess he's tired of being a class 'B' bachelor as Lori (his B.W.) is up there earning her doctorate. In an ATTABOY to long time member Gerald Swick, a long time aficionado of the ACW, he is giving a session on Emilie Todd Helm (Lincoln's sister-in-law) at a conference on Women and the Civil War held 7-9 April 2000 in Winchester, VA. A number of not so military topics are to be covered. It looks quite interesting.
