With a Heartfelt Thanks II

David W. Tschanz, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia

The holiday season is upon us and I note with a surprise that Cry "Havoc!" is winding up its second year. Not bad for a venture that looked like the first issue might be the last. I'm also smart enough to realize that this is not because of any particular genius on my part. Cry "Havoc!" was never intended as a one man operation. Its survival and success is due to the contributions of many persons. I'd like to take the opportunity to say "Thanks" again to those people and publicly acknowledge their assistance.

Bob Miller, our long time Graphics Editor has always supplied us with excellent graphics to supplement the various and sundry items I find hither and yon. You can usually pick out which one's come from Bob — they're higher quality than the rest. Bob's precise, careful (and occasionally finicky) nature made him a natural choice for Associate Editor. Bob fully realizes that careful editing means more than "run it through the spellchecker" and he will be responsible for assuring that we continue to improve our standards.

Thanks are also in order to Earl Toops. Earl's reviews here and in other journals like the Canadian Wargamer Journal are the standard by which all others are measured. His travel pieces (there's one scheduled for next issue) are a mixture of careful observation and good natured joshing.

Line of Departure editor Jim Werbaneth has enough things to do, but manages to regularly write for us. Its been a rough year for Jim, but he's still game.

Also included in this group is Jim Bloom. I usually find that when I start scrambling for material for another issue, Jim sends in a well-written piece.

Its probably a measure of our success that the last three persons named and I have never met — their commitment is appreciated!

Closer to home, another person we could not get along without is Mike Flynn. Mike has an amazing ability to provide Cry "Havoc!" with thoughtful, provocative articles that are always meticulously researched (I suspect he's paid more library fines than anyone in the history of Saudi Aramco).

Occasional contributors are also necessary to keep Cry "Havoc!" going strong. Many, many thanks to Adam Flynn, Gus Carroll, Bill Kaliher, Jonathan Rice and Cyndy Tschanz who take time to keep us from falling into the same mold.

We couldn't do it without you folks! So keep those reviews, articles and comments coming!
