Tony Rohling sent this in. I think all of you who contribute to CH need to remember that we do effect people in many more ways than we think. My best friend Allan was a military history fanatic. Well, he died today (January 9th) after spending several months in the hospital with quad bypass, a colostomy, amputation of a leg and kidney failure. Needless to say, he was in pretty sad shape, and was kept so doped up that he didn't respond to much of anything. Last week I brought an issue of CH to the hospital and started reading it to him. He really perked up, and motioned for his eyeglasses. Lo and behold, he picked up the zine and started to read it! It was probably the last thing Allan ever read, and I like to think that the experience of hearing some material of interest to him provided some comfort.
