Let Slip the Dogs of War

Editorial

by David W. Tschanz

Well we're back.

It was worth the wait as Mike Flynn returns for his final installment of The Traitor Who Saved America and tells us about some little known facts surrounding the battle of Saratoga. A former "peace officer" in the region, Mike is uniquely suited to this task. Besides it keeps him from playing solitaire on the computer.

Brian Train, who is recovering nicely, returns again with some insight into the "Last Emperor", China's Pu Yi. Janet Phillips makes her first appearance, a light hearted look at the battles in the mall as a warm-up to her next piece on females in combat. TW Gideon offers in an depth review of Citizen Soldiers. Stephen Danielson provides us with some factoids on the American War of Independence. For those of you who complained I haven't contributed anything in a few issues (okay, one of you did) there's an interesting report on a biological warfare accident just waiting to happen in the former Soviet Union. It appears the chickens are coming home to roost.

Ye editor needs to get on a soap box for a few moments. I received a couple of e-mails complaining that I don't change some of my foreign (i.e. Canadian) contributors spellings to standard American spelling. Why would I want to?

Last but not least -- Mike has promised more material for 2000. See, public begging works!

... and for the record its NOT the new millennium until January 1, 2001 -- so party this year AND next!
