Let Slip the Dogs of War

Editorial

by David W. Tschanz

This issue is late because of a gecko, or rather I should say a baby Komodo dragon (it was that big) and no, I'm not going to explain that. Just trust me on this one.

As usual we have a mix of material designed to meet everyone's interests. First time contributor Dale Tomlinson chronicles Stonewall's Jackson Shenandoah valley campaign. Another first time contributor, Jason Ledbetter, offers some insight into the Union navy's efforts in the ACW and its role in the final outcome. Brian Train, who is still laid up, returns with a moving piece on a small but poignant Japanese museum dedicated to the men of the kaiten.

Karl Tschanz returns after a long hiatus with a computer "wargame" review. Those of you who remember his work on Battle Bugs will note a major improvement in his writing style.

Jim Bloom also rejoins the list of contributors with an insightful "upgrade" to his original article on the alternate history genre. Finally, you may be asking where is Mike Flynn's last installment of "The Traitor Who Saved America"? Simple I answer — we're saving this tour de force for next issue. Mike claims this will be his last contribution to CH, which I hope it isn't.
