Please check the new US mailing address (for those of you that write us there). If you've been getting your mail returned from the previous address I apologize. The cover story on the battle of Ain Jalut, is subtitled Mongols, Mamluks and Muslims — why not — we've gotten use to Natos, Nukes and Nazis. Along with the story on the battle of Hattin, we journey back to the medieval Middle East to two of history's most critical battles — yet its unlikely most of you have ever heard of them. Jim Werbaneth takes us to sea this time — aboard the USS Niagara, while Brian Train offers an interesting mix — the Canandain Armed Forces today and the 1921 Kronstadt uprising. We also have offerings on the 1994 Yemen Civil War, a bit of humor sent in amongst hundreds of other by Gus Carroll and some other tidbits — one of which is shamelessly plagiarized though the author has been dead some 18 centuries. The material on the Khobar bombing — gleaned from the US Air Force press release is provided since so many of our readers are from the Dhahran area and a lot of us remember the explosion and its aftermath all too vividly.
