Reader Austin Bay, author of A Quick and Dirty Guide to War has penned a techno-thriller entitled Prism which is receiving excellent reviews in the mainstream press. If Tom Clancy's Executive Actions is any indication of the direction Clancy's writing is going, it might be time to find a new author and Bay can easily fill the bill.

Subscriber Brian Train's article on the Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) of Peru appeared in Strategy & Tactics #179 along with a shorter piece on the Bonus Army.

Competitive Edge magazine (nee Gamefix) is rumored to have indefinitely suspended publication. Some designers have had no answer to their queries regarding the status of contracts they have with them. With the strange publication pattern of S&T and Command's increasingly erratic distribution (e.g., hobby issues arriving two months after newsstand issue) it appears that the commercial wargaming magazines are facing serious problems.

One of our readers has written in asking if anyone knows how to configure Panzer General for Windows 95. Apparently it keeps locking up on him.

Games by Mail, Canada's premier mail order wargaming has gone out of business. The Webers closed the service down for personal, rather than financial, reasons.

World War I aficionados should take a look at: http://www.mcs.net/~mikei/tgws which explains everything you always wanted to know about the Great War Society. The next issue of Cry "Havoc!" will contain a review of this interesting group and its journal Relevance.
