The Model Vehicles Unlimited Club of Southern California has announced the first annual 1/87th scale vehicle convention. This convention will be devoted entirely to 1/87th scale model vehicles, both vintage and modern, including trucks, cars, buses, military, construction equipment, emergency, race cars, logging, etc. The convention will be held in Ontario, California on Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23, 1995, at the Red Lion Hotel. This is a nonprofit event solely for the advancement of 1/87 scale vehicle modeling and collecting. Some of the activities planned for the convention include modeling contests in all vehicle categories, including vehicle dioramas, model building clinics, lectures, model vehicle exhibits, tours of modern and antique displays, an "HO" race car demonstration, 1/87th scale wargaming demonstrations, manufacturers' displays, sales tables and an awards banquet, to name a few. The club will be sponsoring a commemorative show book with pictures of all the models entered in the modeling contests. The book will include an advertising section that will serve as a reference manual of the vehicles and detail parts available in the marketplace. The club will also sponsor a limited edition 1/87th scale collectors' show truck.
