The units of the Egyptian Army serving in Saudi Arabia present an interesting contrast in equipment. The Egyptian Army is moving from the Soviet style force that fought the Yom Kipper War to an formation patterned for the most part after the current American Army. This mixture of equipment and doctrine can be seen throughout the Egyptian troops currently deployed in Saudi Arabia.
