Here We Are Again

Editorial

Command Post MIA?

For those of you who have been wondering where your Command Post was, the answer is (or was), "on the back burner." However, we have not disappeared from view, and with the upcoming publication of the second edition rules, we have become a higher priority. This issue comes with "Away All Boats," the promised supplement on the USMC. The notes on amphibious warfare are riot as complete as the editor would like them to be, but these rules will have to do for now. Amphibious warfare in the Central Pacific is very different from the Southwest Pacific and Europe. This is a subject we will have to cover one area at a time!

On the positive side, the editor is the proud owner of a Macintosh Classic, and as a result, the Korean War Supplemental items will have a more professional look (I hope), but the timetable has gone astray (again). Please bear with us as we work through our problems. We will get all planned issues out, but no promises as to when.

S-3 will be missing from this issue, not because I don't have any scenarios, but rather due to a lack of space in this issue. Issue #7 will have one Over The Top, two Command Decision, and a Combined Arms scenarios to make up for this issue's S-3 absence.

Barbarossa 25 Again

As part of the playtesting of the rewritten Command Decision, our local group is carrying out the a rematch of the Barbarossa 25 Bathtub Campaign. The editor is currently the Commander in Chief of the Imperial German Army (we have restored the Hapsburgs to the German throne and they are commanded by Empress Joy Maire). Meanwhile, Frank is currently reprising s role as Marshal Wally, the County Chairman of the Union of Soviet Socialistic Townships (CCCT).

In a wonderful act of faith in the editor as a seasoned commander, most of the original German commanders have switched sides and are currently serving under the command of Marshal Wally. However, the Imperial Germans forces have struck back, as we have gotten in return the only staff officer that the Soviet Side had in the last game, and thus the Soviet forces are already in a world of hurt. Our hopes of starting the game in the middle of June 1991, to celebrate the golden anniversary seem doomed to failure!

Will keep the readership posted on the action. For now it's all quiet on the Eastern Front.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead to issues 9 to 12? Well, I could use some feedback on what the readership would like to see in terms of supplements.

The rewritten Command Decision will cover the Middle Eastern Armies, so there is no point in doing a supplementon that. The following ideas have been sent. I will leav it up to the readers to decide what I should pursue, or if there are others you would rather see. Not all of these will be as large as our current supplements. Please write in and let me know your opinions.

The Polish Campaign, 1939 (German and Polish Forces)
    Torch (North Africa 1942-1943)
    The Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939
    The Forgotten Army (Burma 1941-45)
The Norwegian Campaign, 1940 (Norwegian, British, French and German Forces)
    Italy, 1943-1945
    The German Army, 1939-1940
    The German Army, 1941-1942
The American Army in Europe, 1944- 1945
    The Vietnam War
    The Canadian Amy in Europe
The Pentatomic Era (American and Russian Formations of the 1950's)
