Our local group has carried out a modification to the damaged results on AFV's. Instead of using the current rule of two "damaged" results--a "disabled" result, we let the crew quality of the AFV effect "damaged" results. Use the following table to determine when an AFV becomes damaged or disabled. This table is only used for the accumulation of damaged results from Small Arms, BE, and AT fire. Disabled and destroyed results from AT fire continue to take immediate effect as before.
Effects of Damage: A damaged vehicle has its movement allowance halved, and its rate of fire (ROF) reduced by one. If the ROF was initially one, when damaged it may only fire in the general fire phase. Playtest Notes: Troop quality now has more of a meaning for tanks. Green Links tend to disappear from the battlefield rather quickly, while veteran and elite tanks tend to be rather tenacious, and remain on the battlefield. In addition, we have used the following two rules: Voluntary Pin: Units which voluntarily PIN themselves remaining pinned only through the remainder of the turn in which they are pinned. If the unit receives a PIN result due to morale or fire, it then remains pinned throughout the remainder of the turn, and the entire next turn as well. Close Combat Morale: All stands in contact with an enemy stand must check morale prior to resolving close combat. Questions1. With the new 82mm mortar rules, can a mortar fire in all phases? Mortars can fire in all three phases only if they can see the target that they are shooting at, and in the case of Close Fire, if the Target is within 10" of the battery. If a mortar battery is firing at the same spot from one turn to the next, any stand passing though the area firer upon must check for casualties, but one can not call indirect fire from a mortar in any phase except General Fire. 2. Do mortars expend ammunition as artillery pieces, i.e. per turn instead of per phase? If firing at a target using Direct Fire, then the mortars expend ammunition per every phase that they fire. (One can keep up a higher rate of fire if one can see where the rounds are hitting, rather than waiting for a report to come back from another unit. 3. Are there any modifiers for passengers in a halftrack or AFV when under HE fire (direct or indirect). The stands being transported receive the -2 modifier for the Light AFV as well. 4. Are there any modifiers for passengers in a halftrack when under fire for small arms? Again, they recieve the Light AFV modifier of -3. The AFV Passenger modifier of -1 is intended for tank riders and the like. 5. What happens to a stand surrounded in the open which receives a forced back result? It remains there and most likely dies on the following turn remember by the way that it is considered as pinned. 6. Is the total morale modifter for an eliminated stand -2 or 3? (-1 for the casualty plus -2 for the stand eliminated)? The morale modifier is -2 per stand lost, and -1 per stand hit. They are not cumulative. 7. Do small caliber AA guns retain their rate of fire while attacking soft targets? Yes. Light AA/Flak makes wonderful ground support artillery.
