This issue is the third of the CP to be put together, and it should allow us to catch up on our planned schedule by the end of this year. With luck, this will be in your hands sometime soon after October 1st, with the next issue due to follow about the 1st of December. Updates OVER THE TOP is due to see the light of day in December now, having been pushed back due to lack of typesetting time. (As a publisher of role-playing games and such, the great bottleneck at GDW is the fact that so much of their output needs to go though that department. The CP is typed as a result on my little Smith Corona Word Processor as a means of by passing this bottleneck, though some day when I grow up I hope to get a real computer.) In turn, the rewrite of CD and the already mentioned ARMIES OF WORLD WAR II" has been pushed even further back down the road at present, though the CP will hopefully keep things rolling on. FUTURE PLANSWith the next issue of the CP we will have finished our planned run for the first year and will be looking at plans for the second year. I and the Workshop will have to make some decisions shortly on next year magazine, and would appreciate some feedback on the following issues as soon as possible:
2. CONTENTS: The CP is divided into 5 sections;
S-2 : INTELLIGENCE S-3 OPERATIONS S-4 : LOGISTICS S-5 : CIVIC AFFAIRS Which areas, if any, should be dropped or changed? My personal tastes in scenarios run to those which have some background built in to them so that the players have a better idea of what is happening - would it be better to run the scenarios without background information to save space? Any thoughts on these areas would be appreciated? 3. SPECIALS: We have run one special issue on the French Army of 1940. 'What would be your reaction on running similar issues on other armies/periods. (These special issues would include the weapons data and game charts as a pull out.) Possible topics include:
Japanese Army WWII Burma 1944 RDF Forces of the World - Modern (British, French, American, Russian, among others.) 4. BATHTUB ARMIES OF THE WORLD: Frank Chadwick has a wonderful collection of information on his famed BATHTUB ARMIES OF WORLD WAR II. Would the readership be interested in it as a extra feature of S-2? CLOSING COMMENTSI will be interested in any comments on the above from the readership. (For the record, my editors fee is one case of Moet White Star French Champagne per year. If you have any spare full bottles around your house, please feel free to send them on as well.) Will be looking forward to hearing from you.
