NOTES

1. COMPANY DESIGNATIONS

All companies are numbered consecutively with the regiment or battalion. In the Infantry Regiments companies 1-5 are in the First (Ist) battalion, 6-10 in the Second (IInd) Battalion, etc. The Antitank Company is No. 16, while the Infantry Gun/Bridging Company is No. 17

2. INTEGRAL ANTITANK WEAPONS

All infantry, engineer, recon, and command stands have the following integral antitank weapons:

    1939-1940: PzB 39
    1941-1942: M SS 41
    1943-1945: Panzerfausts

3. ANTITANK GUN IMPROVEMENT

In 1942 all 37mmL45 AT Guns were replaced by the 50mmL60 AT Guns. In 1943, the 50mmL60 AT Guns in the Divisional AT Battalion were replaced by 75mmL46 AT Guns.

4. In 1942, all infantry regiments have only two battalions in the field. Though not official, it was widely practiced in late 1941 as a means of keeping the remaining battalions at near full strength. The Antitank and Infantry Gun/Bridging Companies are still numbered 16 and 17, though companies 11 to 15 were vacant.
