Open Letter to Friends,
Customers and Public

By Scott Bowden

For over 15 years--until June 8, 1989--I had the distinct pleasure of owning and operating Empire Games, Inc. and Empire Games Press. When I controlled Empire, I had a great deal of pride in working with an outstanding group of authors in an effort to bring to the hobby quality rules and reference material while providing excellent service to our customers. When I sold Empire, it was to free my time to create new products.

Following the June 8, 1988 sale, my sole association with Empire was that of a free-lance writer, not involved with service, production, or any other aspect of the company. I am now no longer affiliated in any way with Empire.

Wanting to reacquaint myself with the grassroots of the hobby, I was fortunate to be able to attend many conventions around the country during 1989 and to get input from hundreds of gamers as to what they wanted to see new in the field of historical simulation rules and historical reference books. Having talked with you, I sense the need for a new company to provide a whole new generation of highest quality history related products, including both "classical" and innovative wargame rules sets, plus historical reference works, all combined with the finest service. Other authors, including Jim Getz, Charles Tarbox, Rob Smith, Greg Pitts, and many more, sense this same need.

Therefore, it is with great pride that I and these authors announce our affiliation with The Emperor's Headquarters and The Emperor's Press. We welcome our friends and customers to inquire about new titles and to be included on a preferred customers mailing list by writing to:

The Emperor's Headquarters 5744 West Irving Park Road Chicago, IL. 60634 USA

With our association with The Emperor's Headquarters and The Emperor's Press, we have a great opportunity to create more historically related products than ever before while presenting these new titles in a format of uncompromised quality. All this, while providing you with faster service and wider distribution than previously possible.

On behalf of Jim, Charlie, Rob, Greg, and myself, we are looking forward to what we feel is a great, new era in wargaming history and are proud to be part of it!
