THE NEXT THEME YEAR We are more than half way through the Franco-Prussian theme year and it is time to start thinking of the next, Remember, the theme year is not intended to be a "major" period like Napoleonics Ancients, but some little-gamed area to expand the reader's horizons. So please send in your suggestions and also suggest a theme editor if you have someone in mind. QUOTABLE WARGAME QUOTES We have been running "Quotable Wargame Quotes" for a few issues and I was hoping that you would pick up on it and send some in from your own experience. That has not been the case, so I have decided on a contest: People whose quotes I use from those send in will get an additional issue tacked on to their subscription. The best one for the year (6 issues) will win a free subscription. Selection committee is yours truly! GAMA AWARDS It is once again time to nominate the best new products for The GAMA Awards. Subscribers, find the ballot on the inside cover of the mailing wrap. We did not have room to print the supplier's list of eligible items, so just nominate those items that you like and that were introduce( calendar year 1986. Other complain of Miniature Gamer apathy... show them they are wrong ~ VOTE! This is one way to show your appreciation to the suppliers of our hobby who are putting out a good product. HISTORICAL MINIATURE VIDEO TAPE A couple of issues ago, I commented on the need for people in the hobby with expertise in other areas to apply that expertise to the betterment of the hobby. We have had a good response! People with professional credentials in video taping and with access to professional video equipment have volunteered to generate such a tape to help expand the hobby. What we need now is a good script. If anyone out there is knowledgeable in writing professional level scripts and is willing to contribute his effort to the hobby for no more than a laughable royalty, please contact me ASAP. Along similar lines, Dean West has availed us of his professional background in insurance to tell Miniature Garners on how to insure their figures in an article in this issue. MORE SHADY DEALERS I have just received news from Stone Mountain that some parties are attempting to import Hovels from second sources in England to circumvent Stone Mountain's exclusive import contract. Don't support anyone you know who may be doing this. It's illegal and undermines the American distributor and manufacturer who we must, in the end, rely on for a sure and fast supply.
