THE POST AWFUL STRIKES AGAIN In its infinite wisdom, the Post Office has decided that a publisher should be charged 2.77 times the 3rd class postage on an item if he asks that it be forwarded or returned and if he guarantees that postage! This amounts to $3 per returned copy of the magazine. The Courier can therefore no longer provide this service. In the future people who do not give us ample notice of address change stand to lose the copy that will be certainly lost in the mail as THE POST OFFICE WILL NOT OFTEN FORWARD THIRD CLASS MAIL notwithstanding any forwarding order by you. THAT LOST COPY WILL BE REPLACED ONLY IF YOU PAY FOR IT. Further, there is no guarantee that we will have anymore of that issue left when you come around to order it. So be sure to give 90 days written notice of address changes. CHANGES IN SUPPLY DEPOT SERVICE The changes in the Post Awful methods and the fact that quite a few orders have been lost in the mails without us being able to trace them or even prove by anything except our own records that an item has been mailed has resulted in quite a few people complaining about the service. We have decided that we must make certain changes that unfortunately will limit our ability to pass on the savings to the reader of The Courier that we have done in the past. Henceforth all orders will be shipped first class or UPS. This will require a 10% postage and handling charge that should be added to all future SUPPLY DEPOT orders. Orders without this added fee will be returned. This does not apply to subscriptions. The Courier Publishing Company is not responsible for any item lost in the mail for which we have adequate proof of shipment. They will only be replaced at their usual cost. ERRATA In Vol. VII, No. 1 there were several glaring errors. The boardgame review article was messed up - it should start at paragraph 14: "Since the appearance..." and at the end of paragraph 17 (the end of the column as presented) go to the top of the first column. Apologies to B.C. Mulligan and to the people whose games we reviewed. Modelling the French and Prussian Army article had two errors: Page 11 - the titles for Brandenberg and Swedish cuffs are reversed and on page 13, the illustration should be titled "Hussar Shabraque" on the left and "Sabretache for Officers" on the right. ANOTHER WAY TO BACKSTAB THE HISTORICAL MINIATURE DEALER! It has been brought to my attention that some individuals have opened a conduit to foreign manufacturers thereby bypassing American distributors who have exclusive contracts for the distribution in this country. I have no argument with individuals who buy product overseas for their own use but the situation above is both illegal and tends to undermine the Historical Miniature distribution network in this country. Another nail in the casket of local manufacturers of Historical Miniature products. If you want to see the continued supply of Historical Miniatures product in the US, support American Companies and BOYCOTT companies whom you know to be participating in this and similar shady practices.
