The Vanguard

Editorial

by Dick Bryant

This Jan-Feb issue is appearing in April and as such has a special section for fans of the double meaning, the tongue-in-cheek. Perhaps the ver discrepancy in issue dates is April fool-esque enough but we keep trying. While we have a special section in this issue one must be careful what reads elsewhere - don't take anything too seriously until read twice!

This being issue 4 of Volume IV, we are 2/3 of the way through this theme year and must start thinking about next year's theme. I SOLICIT YOUR SUGGESTIONS - send them in along with a suggestion as to who should be the editor (if you have someone in mind) before May 30. Remember the them must be a secondary gaming period, not a primary one such as ACW, Ancients, Napoleonics, etc. But one which is not gamed much. The intent is to build interest in a new period that may regenerate our flagging gaming energies and help up recapture the excitement and satisfaction we knew when we first discovered the hobby.

ERRATA

Last time I said that Martian Metals would probably go out of business as result of their fire and that they would not produce the ACW 10mm troops for use with The Complete Brigadier - I was happily wrong on all counts. First the 10mm ACW figures are for use with Adventure Games' JOHNNY REB, a set of Grand Tactical Miniature rules by John Hill. The figures will be produced and will be released at about the same time as JOHNNY RE -hopefully by Origins '83.

I have not been able to contact them directly but all indications are that Martian Metals will be back in production this summer.
