SURPRISE! Just as you started grumbling about our recent price increase here we are with 64 pages! Unfortunately The Courier can only be this thin when there is a complete rule set within its pages and that threatens destroy the balance of periods I try to bring to each issue. We will however increase by 8 pages minimum in each issue for a total of 56 pages and covers. To accomplish this we had to replace the Volley Fire and Supply Depot response cards with a cutout return coupon. Please use it. This issue contains two articles by George Jeffrey revealing more of his citing new approach to wargaming. I watched George demonstrate a game in which there were 3 corps and 2 CAV Divisions on a side (each battalion and squadron represented by 4 stands of figures). He and Dave Burn brought this action to a conclusion in 3 HOURS! The Courier will be publishing George's rules (the first will be for Napoleonics) - the goal is have them ready for Origins'82. George will be coming to Origins to give lecture series on "New Concepts in Wargaming" and several demonstrations. I hope many of the readers will join us. This Origins is the first in which the Historical Miniature Gaming Society will endeavor to improve on what has been available for Historical game at the major conventions. They have 7000 square feet in a separate area as a free hand - Come on down and lend your support to their efforts. The ORIGINS AWARDS NOMINATION BALLOT is on page 53, please fill and rush it to Bill Somers. Support of these awards (especially the H. Wells awards) is one way of assuring that those manufacturers who serve the hobby best get their just recognition. Another Origins item: Jay Hadley, award winning figure painter an member of The Courier staff has offered a fully painted 15mm Renaissance army (from various manufacturers) to be raffled off at Origins, the proceed to help support the program of the Historical Miniature Gaming Society.
