In Vol III, No 2, we presented an Annotated Bibliography for the Renaissance. These are additional books for that period. Osprey Men at Arms Series - Three new titles in this fine series, will interest the wargamer involved in the later part of the Pike and Shot Period; 1. The New Model Army 1646- 1660; 2. Marlbourogh's Army 1702-1711; 3. The Jacobite Rebellions 1689-1745; All three are presented in the usual informative style of this series, and contain many useful color and black and white illustrations. Barker, Thomas M. - The Military Intellectual and Battle, Count Ralmondo Montecuccoli and The Thirty Years War. This book is an essential reference to anyone interested in the warfare of the 17th century. Montecuccoli's theories (especially regarding cavalry), influenced military thought well into the 18th century. Chandler, David - Marlborough as Military Commander. Mr. Chandler, must be considered the world's foremost Marl boroughph i le (?) and he regards the Duke as the greatest military figure in British History. The book is a detailed biography of his life from beginning to end, and should be read by any student of late 17th century warfare. Massie, Robert K. - Peter the Great, His Life and World. The author of Nicholas and Alexandra has written a fascinating and informative biography of one of the great leaders of history. It is interesting and highly readable history.
