Seven Years War campaign histories and
informatior about the armies are certainly not as available
as those on Napoleonic subjects. In many cases
reference wil have to be made to the inter-library loan
departments or ones local public or university libraries.

Duffy, C.J., The Army of Maira Theresa, Hippocrene,
N.Y., 1977.
The Army of Frederick the Great, Hippocrene,
N.Y., 1974. Both of Duffy's works are superb with
maps, orders of battle, uniforms and extensive
bibliographies.
Luvaas, J., Frederick the Great on the Art of War,
The Free Press (MacMillan), N.Y., 1966. Good
collection of Frederick's writings.
Rothenberg, G.E., The Military Border in Croatia
1740-1881, Chicago, 1966. Best book on subject.
Cole, H.N., Minden 1759, Charles Knight, London,
1972. Knight's Battles for wargamers, order of battle
for both armies.
Savory, R., His Britannic Majesty's Army in Germany During the Seven Years War, Oxford University Press, 1966. Known to buffs as the "Bible" - excellent.
Carlyle, T., Frederick the Great (6 volumes),
Harper and Bros., N.Y.,1861. Reasonably available in antiquarium shops.
Parkman, F., Montcalm and Wolfe (2 volumes),
Little and Brown, Boston, 1884. Extensive history of

includes maps and orders of battle. Easily

Both books are excellent. Almost comprehensive
treatment of all uniforms and standards. Bargain at
less than four dollars each.
Funcken, L & F., The Uniforms & The Arms of
the Soldiers of the Lace Wars, Casterman, 1977.
Montandre-Lonchamps, Etat Militaire de France,
Paris. This book was published in a new edition
each year, including 1756 through 1762. Each
edition contains each units' uniforms, royal
ordinances for year and names of all general officers
among much else.
Susane, L., Histoire de L'ancienne infanterie
Francaise, J. Correard, Paris, 1849-53 (8 volumes
and plates).
Histoire de l'ancienne cavalerie, J. Hetzel,
Paris, 1874 (3 volumes). Both Susane series consist
of brief regimental histories, uniforms and standards
for all units.
Histoire de l'Artillerie Francaise, J. Hetzel,
Paris, 1874 (I cannot locate a copy or photocopy of
this volume, help!).
Also valuable are the plate series of Herre and
Tradition, Menzel, Military Uniforms in America
(Company of Military Historians) and the continuing Le
Plumet series by Rigo.
