In addition to our regular features, this month's section includes a description of a Wargaming Club, Old Colony Wargamers, as well as an account of a gaming weekend held by that Club and participated in by members of the Montreal Wargamers Association and two Society of Ancients members from West Virginia. THE COURIER is anxious to profile any club that wishes it and to publish reports of major Club events such as those described in this month's section. This can give wargamers a better idea of possible club activities and give graphic examples of the advantages of club membership. Obviously, your participation in this coverage with reports and black and white photographs is necessary. Keep in mind, however, that demands for space may cause substantial abridgement of your report. Please note also that only typed and double spaced copy can be used. SOCIETY WEEKEND HELD IN BROCKTON, MA.On the last weekend in February, February 22, 23 and 24, Society of Ancients Members from Massachusetts, West Virginia and Canada gathered for a weekend of gaming and companionship. The weekend was held at Old Colony Wargamers' headquarters in Brockton and this editor was the host. The credentials of the competitors was high since the first and second place finishers in the recent annual Origins WRG Ancients tourney in the persons of Rod Burr, Tom Hazlett, Steve Herndon and TerrY Lyons were present and gaming. THE COURIER editor Dick BrYant and THE COURIER staffers Eric Ritchie, Leo Cronin and JerrY Chaskes were also in attendance. There was a total of 22 games played on four 4' by 6' and two 6' by 8' tables. The competition was very keen and West Virginia's Tom Hazlett with a four win and one loss record proved to be the man to beat. In fact the Up#t of the weekend came when OCW member Mark Chilenskas defeated Hazlett and his Indo- Bactrians using Mongols. Canada's Don Mac Donald was awarded a trophy for the player demonstrating the best sportsmanship. The Rules used on this weekend were the WRG Ancient Rules (5th edition). There were some differences in the application of the rules due to the regional differences in interpretation of the participants but for the most part gaming went along smoothly. The one thing that all of the participants did agree on was the the weekend was the kind of agreeable experience which should be repeated.
