Dear Fellow Wargamer: "The Courier has returned!" The issue in your hands proves that this was not a rumor. We have felt, these last few years, that no magazine succeeded in filling the vacuum left when The Courier ceased publication. We believe that the hobby needs a wargaming magazine aimed at the historical miniature wargamer. We, at Courier publications, have no argument with fantasy, science fiction, boardgame and role playing enthusiasts. We feel that these are all important interest areas in the hobby ol wargaming. We believe however, and it is our editorial policy, that no one magazine can be all things to all people and do justice to everyone's interest. The Courier will not attempt to compete with THE DRAGON, FIRE & MOVEMENT, THE SPACEGAMER, etc. Readers with interests in areas besides historical miniatures should subscribe to these fine magazines as well as to The Courier. After all, if you collect both Napoleonic and Middle Earth figures, why not subscribe to two magazines, each of which specializes in its own "field". The magazine in your hand is perhaps "prettier" and more "professional" than the earlier Courier, but it is my intent that it will maintain the "flavor" and the freshness of its predecessor. To this end, many of the old editors and contributors are back and the new editors are names very well known in the hobby. The Courier is nothing, if not a magazine written for the most part by its readers That is what made The "Old" Courier what it was. So please send in your articles, letters and suggestions. Instructions for submitting articles are found elsewhere in this issue. A careful reading of this article will further indicate how far we plan to go to cater to the Historical Miniature Wargamer. I wish to take this opportunity to thank all my friends in the hobby who have helped midwife the rebirth of The Courier. On my word alone, they supported this endeavor with advertising dollars; by sending out flyers with their merchandise; by writing articles; and by providing plenty of encouragement. To those who wanted to wait and seeÄyou've waited -- you've seen, now come on aboard. May all your Morale Dice be High.
