"PLATOON" portrays the actions of a rifle company in Vietnam. Oliver Stone based it upon his own experience was a rifleman in Vietnam. The film was the first to use what could be called "realistic" combat scenes. It won the Academy Award for best picture of 1986. A great film that I have watched many times. 1.
