THE COURIER WEBSITE Well The Courier website is up and running. There is a lot of work yet to do but please check us out at http://www.thecouriermagazine.com/ You will be able to renew your subscriptions, or buy new subscriptions, and change your addresses at the website. By the end of January we should also be able to accept credit cards. Subscribers will have access to a members page via a password. There will be Author's Notes, and Advertising Information. There is a complete index to all the issues up to #70 and we are working with MAGWEB to allow subscribers to access the issue of interest. There is a detailed timeline of the hobby - a virtual history of the hobby from about 1890. This is a work in progress and we invite you to review what we have and suggest additions, changes and corrections (send this info to Bob Beattie who is maintaining the timeline: beattie@umich.edu) The main purpose of the site is to provide information to the gamer. To that end we will eventually have a primer for beginning gamers or for those who want to find out more of what the hobby is about; more reviews of figures, books and rules than we can ever provide in the print magazine; more scenarios, and a chat page. Your comments and suggestions are most welcome – contact me at Mgluteus@aol.com. THIS ISSUE This issue has no Dispatches from the Field (Letters to the Editor) column! We needed the room and this last few months, there have been very little in the way of letters from the readers. I guess the magazine is perfect and no one has any complaints. Or - no one has any 'tidbits' of information they want to pass on to the rest of the readers. I, of course, like to get letters telling me how great the magazine is, but it gets tiresome for the other readers to have to read only those. Also the 'net' has cut down on correspondence to a great degree. I enjoy reading the messages off the 'net', but really would like some informative material for inclusion in the Dispatches From The Field column. Another thing that the 'net' does is reduce the need for Sales & Trades ads. I see a lot of wargaming material offered on the 'net' and through E-Bay! But we will always be here to publish Sales & Trades ads for those who don't have access to the net or rather not use that medium. BILL KEYSER Bill, author of the valmy to Waterloo rules and who takes the photos that result in the magnificent covers we have had of late as well as the review photos, has just undergone major back surgery and is progressing very well. I am sure that you will all join me in wishing him a fast and complete recovery. THE COURIER BOOK OFFER Starting with this issue we are expanding the discount book offer to 4 books per issue. We hope that the expanded coverage to more periods will allow more of you to take advantage of this great opportunity.
